Good Week After All
So this week was pretty good at the clinic with a lot of new things to do every day. The first day of the week, a friend from UST and I helped in hanging crosses, pictures, and nail in various objects. With my past experience with Habitat for Humanity and a member of a team that built an Orthodox monastery at Corpus Christy this work was a piece cake, and also fun. The Second week wasn’t as active but informative. I worked at the Clinics pharmacy and learned of their humanitarian PAP system. It’s a system for those who cannot afford medical treatment when they needed it. Instead of giving it to them with a discount, if they qualify then get it for free. (atleast that’s what I understood from the pharmacy tech). The doctor for the patient would prescribe various medical treatments to the patient and the patient would apply for PAP. If accepted the pharmacy would order the medicine and gives it to the patient. The pharmacy tech however took me to the back and showed me all the medicines that was ordered for patients that are under the PAP but was not picked up. It surprised me because many of those medications were essential such as inhalers, which only leaves me to wonder about how the patients are managing without it.
